WAKO DELEGATION IN POLAND
WAKO President Mr. Borislav Pelevic, WAKO Board member Mrs. Kate Kocsiewska and President of Polish Kickboxing Association Mr.Andrzej Palasz, visited Polish Olympic Committee.
On the meeting with Mrs. Irena Szewińska, who is IOC member and Vice President of Polish Olympic Committee, five times Olympic Champion in athletics (running), WAKO President introduced her about IOC application which WAKO applied to the IOC in August 2016.
Mrs. Szewinska was very interested in the position of WAKO in International sport and was very thrilled about the number of WAKO members, and a number of WAKO international competitions.
Mrs.Irena Szewińska first time competed in the Olympic Games 1964 in Tokyo, as an 18-year-old . Participated in five editions of the Games of the Olympiad: 1964, 1968, 1972, 1976, 1980. She is 10-times world record holder in 100m, 200m, 400m; 10 medals (5 gold, 1 silver, 4 bronze) in European Championships, 26-times Polish champion (100m, 200m, 400m, long jump); Athlete of the Year in Poland (1965, 1966, 1974, 1976); Athlete of the XX Century in Poland.
There is no doubt that great and valuable experience of Mrs. Irena Szewinska was a precious help for WAKO delegates to be introduced about various issues concerning International Sport.
WAKO delegates also had a meeting with a representative of Polish Ministry of Sports Mr. Andrzej Banasiak who is responsible for combat sports in Poland.
This meeting was very successful too, and Mr. Banasiak was very satisfied that WAKO kickboxing will participate in the World Games in Poland 2017.
