WAKO European Championships
Greece Loutraki 19th-27th November 2016
From 19th till 27th November 2016 Greece hosted the European Kickboxing Championship for the disciplines: Point fighting, Kick Light, Musical forms and Full Contact .These days were fully packed with high-quality fighting, great fights, friendship, and fair play.
This championship is the example of the big positive development within the WAKO organization as a whole. For all participants, this was a great opportunity to join and be inspired for the future work.

With participants from 33 countries, WAKO continues to show strength in Europe. With the participation of great, confirmed champions and legends of WAKO, fighters like Zsolt Moradi, Roman Brundl, McMenamy Robbie, Szabo Dorina, etc. we had also the newcomers who attended Championships of Europe for the first time. This was certainly inspiring for all of the participants.
The promoter of the Championships, President of WAKO Greece, Mr. Mike Triantafillou has done a great job with his staff for realizing this event and he doesn’t hide his happiness for bringing kickboxing Championships back to Greece.
Big rivalry was in point fighting discipline Roman Brunld (Austria) confirmed that he is No.1
“WAKO Europe is delighted to see continued evolution of the kickboxing sport worldwide.
The second part of the Europeans is the example of the strength of the sport of kickboxing in Europe. We have over 1,000 participants in total taking part in the Championships 2016 in Europe. We successfully prepared fair, clean and empowering environment for all participants. It is great to see such a positive trend with 33% of competitors female and 67% male”, said the President of WAKO Europe, Mr. Roy Baker.

The first day of gathering in Loutraki was reserved, as usual, for the International referee seminars for ring and tatami, Coaching committee meeting, Antidoping and medical seminars and official drawing.
Opening ceremony 22th November started at 11 o’clock and was again the great performance of strength, unity, and dignity of WAKO.

Scheduled three days elimination fights passed very well and we all were excited about the finals.
Europe got the new Champions and they will go home inspired to train even harder, remembering the great event but most important, looking forward to the positive future of the sport of Kickboxing.
